Internationally Known Experts on Dispute Resolution Featured at NJ Conference, ADR Day IV: Cutting Edge Issues in Dispute Resolution, June 16 in Iselin

"Remarkable innovations have occurred in the field
of ADR over the past twenty five years. Some of the most significant contributions have been in New Jersey, particularly with the judicial Complementary Dispute Resolution initiatives. In the next decade, we can expect an explosion of ADR use, both in the public and private sector." Harry Mazadoorian, Keynote Speaker

"Cutting Edge Issues in Dispute Resolution", the fourth annual conference on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in New Jersey, will take place on Friday, June 16, 2000 from 8:30am - 1:00pm at the Sheraton at Woodbridge Place in Iselin.

Harry Mazadoorian, the keynote speaker, will address "Crossroads: 21st Century Issues Affecting ADR" -- Court annexed dispute resolution, multi-disciplinary practice, and in-house conflict resolution programs. Mazadoorian, recently retired from CIGNA where he headed commercial litigation and ADR programs, is currently Distinguished Professor of Dispute Resolution Law from Practice at Quinnipiac Law School, in Connecticut. A Yale Law school graduate, Mazadoorian, serves as surrogate Superior Court Hearing Officer appointed by Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court and is Chair, Corporate ADR Committee, American Bar Association.

Hanan M. Isaacs, a Kingston attorney and President of New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators (NJAPM), will co-moderate the workshop "Roads to Conflict Resolution" with Mazadoorian.

Isaacs, a leading spokesperson for the Alternative Dispute Resolution field, was designated the 1999-2000 ADR Practitioner of the Year by the Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Said Isaacs, "NJAPM is thrilled to co-sponsor this major annual event. Our members are lawyers, accountants, mental health professionals, MBA's and engineers. We define the possibility of multi- disciplinary professional practice in NJ. We see organizational networking as the next step towards vastly expanded mediation use in the public and private sectors."

A litigator since 1979, Isaacs has served as a professional mediator and arbitrator since 1981. He was Chair for two years of the 200 member Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA). In addition, Isaacs has served as a commercial and personal injury arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association-NJ office and a commercial and divorce mediator for NJAPM.

Panelists include: Terry L. Trantina, Tenzer Greenblatt; Jeff Paquin, Ernst & Young, LLP; Jack Sabatino, Esq., Rutgers Law School; Mary Vivian Fu Wells, Wells Consulting Service; Bernard Sobel, CPA, Sobel & Co., Bonnie Blume Goldsamt, Esq.; Philip Levine, Esq., CPA, American Arbitration Association; Rolando Torres, Jr., The Prudential Insurance Co. of America and Eric Max, Esq., Director, Office of Dispute Settlement.

ADR DAY IV is presented by the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, the New Jersey State Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section, the American Arbitration Association, New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, Justice Marie L. Garibaldi, American Inn of Court for Alternative Dispute Resolution and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

According to Joan D'Uva of Amper, Politziner & Mattia, "As the first CPA to be conference chair, I believe that this is the ultimate statewide conference where professionals meet from many disciplines not just to exchange thoughts and ideas regarding dispute resolution but to get a glimpse of the future. The event itself, sponsored by various professional associations and institutions, is a great testament to multi-disciplinary approach as we begin the twenty first century. The conference is an absolute must for corporate executives, attorneys, accountants and any other professionals who believe in alternative means of dispute resolution."

The cost of ADR Day is $99 per person for members of co-sponsoring organizations and $125 for others. Continental breakfast and program materials are included. For registration, contact ICLE (Institute for Continuing Legal Education) at 732-214-8500.
