Hanan M. Isaacs, President of NJ Professional Mediators, Interviewed on WWFM 89.1 FM -- May 13th at 7PM

Kingston, NJ (May 5, 2000) - Attorney Hanan M. Isaacs of Kingston, NJ, President of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators (NJAPM) will be interviewed on "Pulse of the Network", hosted by Blaine Greenfield, May 13, 2000, on WWFM (89.1 FM) Trenton, NJ, at 7:00 PM. The interview will also be broadcast in nine media markets across the country from Philadelphia, PA to Aspen, CO. In the interview Isaacs discusses NJAPM's ambitious program including its statewide initiatives on preventing youth violence and on promoting the creation of a New Jersey Dispute Resolution Center (DRC).

Host Blaine Greenfield, a business consultant, asks Hanan Isaacs, who has been a professional mediator and arbitrator since 1981, to explain the subtleties and uses of negotiation, arbitration and mediation. Isaacs talks about how the whole legal field is changing with respect to its acceptance of mediation. He provides background on the work that NJAPM is doing with the offices of Governor Christine Whitman and Congressman Rush Holt in building coalitions to address youth violence and with the State Bar Association and Administrative Office of the Courts to shape and fund a statewide Dispute Resolution Center.

According to Isaacs, in a separate interview, the importance of mediation was evident again in the recent, high profile Elian Gonzales case. Isaacs said, "The interest of the Cuban/American community, the father, the child, his Florida relatives, the Florida Family Court, The Federal Government and the Florida authorities needed to be carefully assessed and creatively integrated to produce a win-win-win outcome. Professional mediators do that work and should have been be involved in the process from the beginning."

Hanan Isaacs, described as a man with vision for the future of ADR, was designated as 1999-2000 ADR Practitioner of the Year by the Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA). A litigator since 1979, Isaacs chaired the Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar Association from 1996-1998. He is now the President of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, where he will serve until 2002. He also serves on the New Jersey Supreme Court's Complementary Dispute Resolution Committee and has served as an adjunct Professor at Seton Hall Law School. In addition, Isaacs, who was instrumental in creating the New Jersey Supreme Court's' new multi-county pilot program in divorce mediation, has taught frequently in the annual New Jersey Judicial College given by the Administrative Office of the Courts State of New Jersey.

Isaacs served for many years as a commercial and personal injury arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association - NJ Regional office. He currently serves as a commercial and divorce mediator for the NJAPM. Named 1994 General Practitioner of the Year by the NJSBA, Isaacs is a frequent journal author, television contributor and public speaker.

NJAPM is a statewide, non-profit professional organization dedicated to promoting mediation as the preferred method of dispute resolution, to fostering excellence and providing education, training and accreditation in the field of mediation.
